Despite early opposition from her parents, she pursued her passion for design, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Fine Art, majoring in Fashion and Design, from Makerere University. She was honored as Designer of the Year at the 2018 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards, won Best Designer at the 2017 Uganda Entertainment Awards, and claimed Designer of the Year at the 2018 Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards. In 2019, Fatumah Asha expanded her vision beyond designing, launching Tesi Fashion School in the heart of Kampala.
