The PR Visionary Shaping Africa’s Media and Literary Landscape – Tebogo Ditshego

Tebogo Ditshego is a trailblazing South African entrepreneur, PR strategist, and literacy advocate whose influence spans media, business, and education.

As the CEO of Ditshego Media and President of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA), he has cemented his reputation as a leader in Africa’s communications industry.

In 2014, Forbes Magazine recognized his entrepreneurial impact by naming him among Africa’s Top 30 Under 30. His leadership in public relations has positioned him at the forefront of industry transformation, and in 2022, South Africa’s Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, appointed him to the Marketing, Advertising, and Communication South Africa (MAC SA) Charter Council to help shape national communication policies.

Beyond PR, Ditshego is a passionate advocate for literacy. In 2012, he founded ReadaBookSA, an online book club that has grown to become Africa’s largest, promoting a culture of reading across the continent.

His commitment to storytelling and African literature led him to publish his first fiction book, “Kasi Nerd” (2016), which became a bestseller. His contributions to education and literacy earned him recognition from Mail & Guardian, which listed him among South Africa’s Top 200 Young Leaders.

Ditshego’s influence extends to government and corporate communications. He played a key role in the South African Reserve Bank’s “Mandela” banknotes campaign, a landmark project that honored Nelson Mandela’s legacy.

His leadership within PRISA has been instrumental in shaping the public relations profession in Southern Africa. Elected President in 2021, he spearheaded the 2022 PRISM Awards, achieving record-breaking ticket sales and reinforcing the prestige of Africa’s top PR awards.

Ditshego’s academic achievements reflect his commitment to excellence. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Postgraduate Diploma in General Management from GIBS Business School, University of Pretoria, as well as an Honours degree in Communications from the University of Johannesburg

His early leadership roles include serving twice consecutively on the Student Representative Council at the University of Johannesburg and presenting research at the Southern African Association of Communications Conference.
