Ghana is stepping forward as a regional leader in artificial intelligence with the unveiling of a National AI Strategy and the drafting of new legislation to regulate emerging technologies.
The announcement was made during the ENJOY AI 2025 African Open in Accra, where Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, delivered the keynote address on behalf of Minister Samuel Nartey George.
The National AI Strategy is designed to guide the use of AI across critical sectors such as health, education, agriculture, security, and public services, according to Tech in Africa.

Sukparu also revealed that an Emerging Technologies Bill, which will cover AI, robotics, and blockchain, is being prepared for submission to Parliament to establish ethical standards in these fields.
In his remarks, Sukparu pointed to current initiatives including the One Million Coders Programme and the Girls-in-ICT project, as well as a presidential directive requiring all government agencies to integrate AI tools by 2026.
This year’s competition, held under the theme “Chasing the Stars,” placed a strong emphasis on youth-led innovation.
Sukparu underscored the importance of children in shaping Africa’s digital future, highlighting their role as the next generation of leaders in technology and innovation.
