Ghana is preparing to transport its first batch of petroleum products (Bing Videos) to Burkina Faso, as part of efforts to strengthen energy ties and improve regional fuel logistics.
Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, announced the development while praising the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) for boosting its operational performance.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, Jinapor highlighted various reforms and progress made in the energy sector over the past seven months.
He pointed to noticeable improvements at BOST and broader developments across the energy landscape, according to Business Insider.
“I’m beginning to see positive trends at BOST, and we are already working to ensure that we extend a pipeline from Ghana to Burkina Faso. This will position Ghana as the main hub for Burkina to off-lift petroleum products,” Jinapor said.
He commended BOST’s Managing Director, Afetsi Awoonor, and his deputy for their leadership.
“BOST is working very well to improve our strategic reserves, and I commend the managing director and his team for showing strong leadership and competence,” he added.

BOST, established in 1993, serves as Ghana’s primary institution for oil storage and distribution.
The company plays a key role in national energy security and regional petroleum transport, making its performance vital to Ghana’s energy development goals.
Reflecting on achievements under his tenure, Jinapor shared his optimism.
“As we reflect on the past seven months, I am filled with a sense of optimism for the future of our energy sector. Together, we have made significant strides, and I am proud to share our achievements,” he said.
He pointed to three main areas of progress.
“We have worked tirelessly to ensure a consistent and reliable energy supply for all Ghanaians. This has been a critical undertaking, and we have made considerable progress,” he said.
He also highlighted the strengthening of Ghana’s petroleum reserves.
“We have increased our petroleum reserves, and the results are beginning to show. We remain committed to expanding these efforts,” he stated.
In addition, the Minister stressed ongoing reforms targeting transparency and accountability.
“We have launched a comprehensive initiative to clean up the energy sector, tackle corruption and promote transparency,” he said.
Closing his remarks, Jinapor urged continued collaboration across the sector.
“I am confident that we will continue to build on these achievements for a brighter energy future,” he concluded.
