Oreoluwa Adedokun on the Global Talent Landscape, Navigating Economic and Political Challenges

Oreoluwa Adedokun, a seasoned Executive Recruitment & Sourcing Specialist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, is shedding light on the complexities of global talent acquisition amid today’s economic and political landscape.

Oreoluwa, with a rich background in talent acquisition spanning across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, has a deep understanding of how recruitment strategies must adapt in response to shifts in immigration policies, economic trends, and geopolitical tensions.

Adedokun, who is the Manager of Talent Acquisition at Bentley Systems, Inc, for the EMEA region, emphasizes the value of strategic, data-driven decisions.

He stated that talent acquisition is no longer about simply filling roles anymore. It goes beyond that, according to him.

“It’s about navigating a complex global market affected by so many external factors,” he explains.

He continued, “Economic downturns, for instance, often lead companies to rethink hiring priorities.

Immigration policies can either facilitate or restrict talent flow, and rising geopolitical tensions create new challenges for global teams.”

His insights highlight the need for flexibility and forward-thinking in recruitment strategies to respond to these factors.

Oreoluwa’s qualifications, including certifications in human resource management, data analysis, and strategic communication, highlight his commitment to advancing the field of talent acquisition.

He holds a BSc in Guidance Counseling and Psychology, an MSc in Human Resource Management, and an MBA in International Business Administration, all of which contribute to his well-rounded perspective on the industry.

He shares that his passion for helping people find meaningful employment began in childhood, growing from a love for assisting others.

“Talent acquisition allows me to play a pivotal role in matching candidates with the right job opportunities, which is incredibly rewarding,” he notes.

He also emphasizes the importance of staying informed about industry trends, building a strong professional network, and developing soft skills, which he considers essential to success in the field.

For him, “The global talent landscape is significantly impacted by economic shifts, policy changes, and geopolitical tensions.”

Oreoluwa is a firm believer in the potential of technology to streamline recruitment processes, enhance candidate experiences, and ultimately drive business growth, rather than conventional ways of recruiting which often lead to biased results.

Oreoluwa’s straightforward advice remains the same: “Stay informed, build relationships, and adapt to change because this field is continually evolving, and the ability to make data-driven decisions can set you apart.”

Currently, Oreoluwa remains committed to connecting organizations with top talent, regardless of the challenges posed by the global landscape.
