Veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has sparked widespread controversy after openly admitting that he uses “juju” (traditional spiritual practices) to aid his success.
The singer made the revelation during a live performance at the 52nd anniversary celebration of veteran Nollywood actor Fatai Odua, popularly known as Lalude, on March 30, 2026.
In a now-viral video from the event, Osupa was seen addressing his backup singers, advising them to adopt similar practices to improve their performance and memory on stage.
Speaking candidly, he said he had previously been advised to publicly deny engaging in such practices but refused, insisting he had nothing to hide.
He stated that his use of juju is solely for personal progress and not for harming others.According to him, he “didn’t kill anyone” or commit any evil acts, but was only seeking ways to advance his life and career.
Osupa further revealed that his spiritual routine includes paying regular homage to Ifa, a traditional Yoruba belief system, describing it as a consistent part of his daily life.
He also dismissed claims that he relies strictly on religious texts such as the Bible or Quran, stating that such assertions were untrue and that many people engage in similar practices privately, even if they do not admit it publicly.
The statement has since triggered strong reactions, particularly from religious figures and followers who criticized his claims and urged him to abandon such practices.
Despite the backlash, the Fuji star has not retracted his comments, maintaining that his actions are personal and intended only for success, not harm.
