Nigeria has charged six individuals with terrorism and treason over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu, according to Reuters. Court documents show that the government filed 13 criminal charges against the suspects, who include former security officials accused of planning a violent takeover of power in 2025.
The accused are currently in custody, while a seventh suspect, a former state governor, is reported to be at large.
Authorities allege the group conspired to undermine the state and failed to disclose critical intelligence related to the plot. The case follows earlier investigations into a suspected coup attempt that raised concerns about security within the country.
