Africa Magic has renewed My Flatmates for a landmark 10th season, extending the run of one of Nigerian television’s most enduring contemporary sitcoms.
Co-created by comedian Bright “Basketmouth” Okpocha and the late filmmaker Kayode Peters, the comedy series has become a familiar fixture across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, building a loyal audience through its mix of humour, everyday struggles and relatable characters.
NET reports that production on the new season is already underway, although a premiere date has not yet been announced.
For Africa Magic, reaching a tenth season reflects the staying power of a show that has remained part of its comedy offering for years. Atinuke Babatunde, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa at MultiChoice Nigeria, described the milestone as a rare achievement in television and pointed to the programme’s consistent connection with viewers.

She noted that the series continues to resonate because it draws humour from familiar realities and everyday experiences, adding that Africa Magic remains committed to supporting content that audiences continue to enjoy.
At the heart of My Flatmates is a group of friends navigating shared living, money problems and the unpredictable situations that come with everyday life. That simple setup has allowed the sitcom to build its identity around satire, slapstick comedy and social commentary.
Over the years, the series has featured several recognisable faces, including Basketmouth, Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, Buchi, Bethel Njoku, also known as Senator, and Wofai Fada, alongside a range of Nollywood guest stars.
Fans have also become familiar with recurring storylines and personalities that have helped define the programme, from Frank’s extended relationship journey with Mimi to Chief Donatus and his many questionable business ideas.
Produced by Barons World Entertainment in partnership with Africa Magic, My Flatmates has grown into one of the longer-running scripted comedy series on West African television.
