More Than a Millionaire Host: How Frank Edoho Elevated Broadcast Excellence in Nigeria

Frank Edoho is a name that stands tall in Nigerian media, a revered TV host, filmmaker, master of ceremonies, and media consultant best known as the iconic host of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” Nigeria.

With a voice that commands attention and a presence that balances gravitas with wit, Frank has earned his place as one of the most recognizable faces in Nigerian media.

Born on July 8, 1972, Frank hails from Akwa Ibom State but spent most of his formative years in Calabar, Cross River State.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Calabar, where his passion for the media began to unfold.

While in school, he was a rap artist known as MC Frank and was already honing his voice and stage presence, tools that would later define his broadcasting legacy.

Frank began his broadcasting career in 1991 at the Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation, working unpaid for nearly a decade.

He also anchored a breakfast show at NTA Channel 9, Calabar, before relocating to Lagos, where he joined DBN TV earning just ₦9,000 a month.

He then moved to Radio Nigeria, where he was paid ₦17,000 monthly and learned the ropes of production, sports commentary, and news reporting.

Despite the financial hardship, Frank stayed committed to learning. He mastered every aspect of broadcasting, from news production to live presentation, bringing a fresh, modern edge to the traditional methods.

His dedication eventually paid off when he auditioned for “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” Nigeria.

After missing the first round of auditions, he made it to the final call, where he was asked to improvise without a script. That moment became a turning point in his career.

Frank became the face of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” for 13 years, captivating viewers with his suspenseful delivery, sharp intellect, and occasional humor.

His unique style redefined the role of a quiz show host in Nigeria. He stepped away in 2017 due to contractual disagreements but returned triumphantly in 2022 as the host for the rebooted version of the show, now with a ₦20 million prize and modernized lifelines, including “Ask the Host.”

Beyond television, Frank is a cinematographer, Blackmagic-certified colorist, photographer, and media consultant.

He has invested in storytelling across formats, offering services in event hosting, visual production, and brand voiceovers.

During the pandemic, he sharpened his behind-the-camera skills and became known for his crisp photography and post-production finesse, especially in interior design photography and color grading.

While Frank’s humor is a beloved part of his delivery, he has never pursued a career in stand-up comedy or acting.

He views humor as a valuable tool in broadcasting but not his calling. He is also selective about the roles he takes on, focusing on engagements that reflect his brand and value.

Frank describes his style as fashionable but not flamboyant. He recently adopted a healthier lifestyle to stay fit and confident.

He is also a proud father, dedicated husband, and an ardent Chelsea FC fan. His Instagram bio captures his multifaceted nature: Host, Cinematographer, Colorist, Photographer, Media Consultant, Amateur Athlete, Great Dad.

Frank Edoho’s journey from an unpaid presenter in Calabar to a national television icon is a story of grit, reinvention, and excellence.

Whether he’s behind the mic or behind the lens, Frank continues to raise the bar in Nigerian media with passion, precision, and an unmistakable voice that leaves a lasting impression.
