In a stellar finish to 2024, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads, has reported a whopping $48.3 billion in earnings for the fourth quarter, marking a 21% year-over-year increase. The tech giant’s total earnings for the full year rose by 22% to $16.5 billion.
But that’s not all – Meta’s daily active users across all platforms surged by 5% to 3.3 billion in December 2024, demonstrating the company’s enduring appeal. With total liquid assets of $77.81 billion as of December 31, 2024, Meta’s financial health is looking robust.
In his post-earnings Facebook post, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his excitement about the company’s performance and unveiled ambitious plans for Meta AI in 2025.
“We ended 2024 on a strong note, with over 3.3 billion people using at least one of our apps each day. This is going to be a really big year,” Zuckerberg exclaimed.
Zuckerberg’s vision for Meta AI is nothing short of revolutionary. He predicts that 2025 will be the year when a highly intelligent and personalized AI assistant reaches over one billion people, with Meta AI leading the charge. To achieve this goal, Meta is working tirelessly to enhance its product offerings across platforms like Instagram and Threads.
Threads, in particular, is showing remarkable growth, with over 320 million monthly active users and a staggering one million daily sign-up rates. Zuckerberg’s optimism about Meta’s future is further bolstered by the anticipated support from the new U.S. government.
In 2025, Meta projects total revenue for Q1 to range between $39.5-41.8 billion, reflecting an 8-15% year-over-year growth. However, the company remains cautious about the regulatory landscape, acknowledging potential headwinds in the European Union and the U.S. that could impact its business and financial results.
