How Dr. Maymunah is Building a Healthier, Happier Africa, One Mind at a Time

A young girl from Nigeria once dared to dream beyond the silence and stigma that shrouded mental health.

She didn’t just dream, she became the voice, the force, and the light.

That girl is now Dr. Maymunah Kadiri, affectionately known as The Celebrity Shrink, a trailblazing neuro-psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and one of Africa’s most powerful mental health advocates.

While many were still finding their footing, Dr. Maymunah carved her path with relentless determination.

From earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, to becoming a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Psychiatry, she proved that mastery is earned through discipline and drive.

But she didn’t stop there.

She went on to become certified in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York, as well as a Certified Trauma Counselor and Neurofeedback Practitioner.

Still hungry to bridge health and technology, she earned her Master’s in Digital Healthcare from Barcelona Technology School and Universitat de Barcelona, because when you’re on a mission to heal minds, there are no limits.

She didn’t just build a practice, she built a haven.

Pinnacle Medical Services, where she serves as Founder and Psychiatrist-in-Chief, stands as one of Nigeria’s foremost mental health institutions, transforming lives through world-class care and innovation.

But Dr. Maymunah doesn’t just sit in clinics, she commands stages, airwaves, and minds.

She has spoken to thousands, appeared on national television, and through her column in The Guardian Newspapers, she educates and dismantles mental health stigma brick by brick.

In 2017, she wrote and produced “Little Drops of Happy,” a film that shook Nigeria awake to the reality of mental health challenges.
