The atmosphere was nothing short of electrifying at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on Friday, September 12, 2025, as celebrity chef Hilda Baci once again thrilled thousands of fans with a groundbreaking culinary feat.
This time, she entered the Guinness World Records for cooking the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice, a first-of-its-kind attempt that pulled a massive crowd of over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and social media influencers.
Before firing up the giant stove, Hilda personally rolled up her sleeves to wash the massive red pot herself. Updating her fans on Instagram, she playfully remarked, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I washed it myself.”
She also stressed that the cooking process was carefully calculated to preserve the authentic taste of Nigerian jollof rice, highlighting that accurate measurements of spices were used to achieve the signature flavour. Punchng reported.
Speaking to journalists, she explained, “To keep the authenticity of the jollof rice, I applied some mathematics, and we will still watch it while it is cooking to make sure that everything is right.”
The event began with a brief but emotional prayer session led by Pastor Bolaji Idowu of the Havesters Church, setting a reflective tone before the celebrations fully kicked off.

As the rice began to simmer, the crowd swelled, with guests eagerly waiting for a taste of the steaming dish. Notable personalities, including fashion designer Veekee James, media star Tomike Adeoye, and influencer Enioluwa, joined the celebration to cheer her on.
Even Guinness World Records itself showed support, leaving a message on her Instagram post that read, “Best of luck, Hilda and team!”
One of the highlights of the day came when award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele made a surprise appearance. Her presence lifted the energy of the crowd as she showcased a few dance steps that sent the audience into cheers and applause.
Adding music to the flavour of the event, singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, entertained guests with performances of some of his hit songs, further turning the occasion into a festive celebration.
This achievement further cements Hilda Baci’s reputation as a bold record-breaker. In 2023, she gained global attention when she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes, setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, in an event she famously named “Cookathon.”

With the world’s largest pot of jollof rice now added to her growing list of record-breaking accomplishments, Hilda has once again proven that her creativity, energy, and determination truly know no bounds.
