From sharp humor to the echo of justice, Felistas Murata, who goes by Mai Tt through Mai Ts Diaries, has built a career that refuses to sit in one box.
Her path is one of reinvention, conviction, and a fierce resolve to leave a mark, not just for herself, but for her people.
Mai Tt was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. She grew up in Mufakose and Glenview, attending Glenview High School.
In her early years, music stirred her heart as she started in gospel, using her voice to uplift, before layering in comedy, activism, and entrepreneurship as her wings.
Her public journey began in 2016, when she shifted from behind-the-scenes music to creating comedy skits that resonated widely on social media.
Over time, waves of attention came not just for laughter, but for her willingness to speak boldly on injustice, HIV/AIDS, and personal transparency.
Mai Tt’s brand, Mai Ts Diaries, reflects her many roles, advocate, musician, comedian, entrepreneur, and fashion designer.
Through it, she uses storytelling, performance, and business to amplify causes close to her heart.
Her path hasn’t been without turbulence. In June 2023, she was convicted of theft of trust property and sentenced.
However, in November 2023, the High Court overturned the conviction, clearing her name and reopening her path forward.
Her time behind bars, she later said, was a mirror, a place for reflection, strategy, and recommitment to purpose.
In 2025, she expanded her story into film with Lost in Ashes, a production she co-directed and produced, deeply rooted in her narrative.
The premiere in Harare drew Nollywood stars, regional collaborations, and fans eager to witness her truth on screen.
Mai Tt has also earned recognition beyond entertainment. In 2018, she was awarded Top Female Entertainment & Social Media Enterprise Business Leader of the Year by the Women’s Heritage Society.
She’s been nominated in regional awards for her foundation work and activism.
But what truly defines Mai Tt is her refusal to quiet her voice. Through humor, vulnerability, and justice-seeking, she confronts stigma, demands accountability, and reminds others that their stories matter.
Every stage she steps on, every microphone she holds, carries more than her voice, it carries her lived truth, her scars, her healing, and her unshaken belief in rising again.
