Tyson Fury has confirmed he is ending his retirement from boxing and will return to the ring on April 11, 2026, in a high-profile bout against Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov that will be streamed live on Netflix.
The announcement, made by Fury and the streaming service this week, marks one of the most anticipated comebacks in recent boxing history as the former two-time world heavyweight champion prepares to face the Canada-based Makhmudov in the United Kingdom, with the exact venue yet to be revealed.
Fury, 37, had retired in early 2025 following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk but has since resumed training in Thailand and publicly declared his passion for the sport, posting on social media that he is “back doing what I love to do” and describing the Netflix-backed event as “astronomical.”
With a professional record of 34 wins, two losses and one draw, Fury’s return is set to be his first fight in the UK since December 2022 and continues Netflix’s expanding involvement in live boxing after broadcasting other major combat sports events.
Makhmudov, 36, enters the fight with a career record of 21 wins and two losses, including 19 knockouts, and has expressed his excitement about the opportunity to challenge Fury, saying he aims to “deliver a war” and be “more ready than ever” for the contest.
The matchup has also stirred conversation about Fury’s future plans and potential showdowns later in the year, with some boxing observers speculating about matchups against other heavyweight contenders once Fury’s comeback bout concludes.
