Tripoli to Host Expanded Libya Energy & Economic Summit in 2026

The Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) is set to return to Tripoli from January 24 to 26, 2026, in what will be its most expansive edition yet.

Marking its fourth year, the summit has firmly positioned itself as Libya’s premier international platform for energy investment, private sector engagement, and technical innovation.

For the first time, the event will span three full days, a direct response to surging global interest in the country’s energy market and its renewed push to scale oil and gas output.

LEES 2026 will be a pivotal event for stakeholders aiming to understand Libya’s rapidly evolving energy landscape.

The summit arrives on the heels of the country’s first licensing round in 17 years, set to close in late 2025.

With 22 onshore and offshore blocks up for grabs and an exploration success rate of 33%, Libya is positioning itself as a high-potential frontier for upstream investment.

The summit will be the first major gathering after the licensing round, offering participants exclusive access to insights, exploration data, and deal-making opportunities as Libya reshapes its exploration portfolio.

As the country targets a two million barrels per day production milestone within the next two to three years, LEES 2026 will highlight the crucial role of private sector players, both Libyan and international, in driving this growth.

Libya’s energy leaders continue to stress the need for expanded collaboration.

With a total of 167 active contractual blocks already in place, the government is calling for increased acreage acquisition and deeper partnerships to accelerate drilling and discovery.

In parallel, natural gas development is taking center stage.

Libya is prioritizing new infrastructure and production capacity to meet rising domestic demand and fuel strategic downstream industries.

These developments will be featured prominently in LEES 2026 discussions, as energy companies, policymakers and financiers assess investment opportunities in both gas and oil.

Organizers say technical expertise will be a strong focus in the 2026 edition, building on the success of LEES 2025’s in-depth technical programming.

The upcoming summit will feature a larger lineup of sessions dedicated to engineering, digitalization, exploration and field development.

This expanded agenda is in response to high demand from upstream and midstream professionals eager to support Libya’s production ramp-up.

International involvement is also expected to rise.

The summit will showcase a growing number of international pavilions, signaling stronger cross-border partnerships and investor confidence.

Libya’s improving global engagement, bolstered by changes in the U.K.’s travel guidance and similar foreign policy shifts, is clearing a path for broader private sector participation.

LEES 2026 will continue close collaborations with leading industry associations from key partner countries, including the U.S., U.K., and Italy.

Supported by previous endorsements from Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas and the National Oil Corporation (NOC), the summit will once again bring together top-level energy executives, government officials, IOCs, NOC subsidiaries, financial institutions, and technology providers.

Together, they aim to accelerate investment, forge strategic alliances, and unlock high-impact opportunities in one of Africa’s most promising energy markets.

LEES 2026 will not only chart Libya’s path toward energy self-sufficiency and economic revitalization but also serve as a gateway for global players seeking to participate in the next phase of the country’s energy transformation.
