Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele As Minister, Redeploys Uzoka-Anite To Another Ministry

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initiated a significant adjustment in his economic team by nominating Mr Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance and transferring Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite to another portfolio.

Tinubu formally communicated Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, initiating the process for Senate screening and confirmation.

Oyedele’s appointment effectively replaces Uzoka-Anite in the Ministry of Finance and is part of a broader cabinet reshuffle by the president on March 3, 2026.

Taiwo Oyedele, a 50-year-old economist, accountant and public policy expert from Ikaram in the Akoko area of Ondo State, has been elevated from his role as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms to the Federal Executive Council, where he will now serve as Minister of State for Finance.

In his previous role, Oyedele led a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system, a central component of the Tinubu administration’s fiscal strategy aimed at improving revenue mobilisation and economic governance.

His professional background includes a 22-year career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he rose to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader, alongside academic involvement as a professor at Babcock University and visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.

He holds an HND in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology, a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and has completed executive programmes at institutions including the London School of Economics, Yale University and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has served in multiple ministries under the Tinubu government, including her immediate role as Minister of State for Finance, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State.

This marks her third ministerial posting in the current administration, reflecting continued personnel adjustments within the presidential cabinet as Tinubu realigns his team around key economic and fiscal policy priorities.
