The Country Man Live Raises the Bar for Nigeria’s Live Music Scene

On December 28, 2025, Lagos’ Bature Brewery hosted the inaugural The Country Man Live, delivering an unforgettable night of music, culture, and artistic excellence.

The event attracted a diverse and influential audience, including music enthusiasts, creatives, industry leaders, and expatriates, all experiencing a concert defined by authenticity and high-quality performance.

The evening showcased a lineup of standout performers, including ClayrocksU, widely celebrated as the Queen of AfroRock; Zadok, affectionately known as the Preacher of Love; Progress, winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7; and Jackson Supernova, acclaimed as the King of Blues.

Jazz Priest, Lovesick, and Jarumi Jr. added depth to the program, creating an immersive musical journey that held the audience’s attention from start to finish.

Headliner Ochiora Okogeri, popularly known as The Country Man, delivered a two-hour-plus performance, blending original compositions with timelesscountry classics.

The crowd’s enthusiasm was evident, with repeated calls for encores after each song. Speaking on the success of the event, he said, “It was incredible to share this night with so many people who love music and culture. Seeing everyone connect through the performances makes me even more excited for what’s ahead.”

The production was marked by professional staging, vibrant visual presentation, and an inviting atmosphere that resonated with attendees.

High-profile guests included Wessel De Haas, former Deputy Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, alongside celebrities and international visitors, reflecting the event’s growing cultural and global appeal.

The concert was supported by Bature Brewery and Laerry Blue Media, with special recognition for Prof. Emmanuel Kachikwu, former Minister of Petroleum. A standout moment was the unveiling of a large-scale portrait by KodaNation, which drew resounding applause from the audience.

In a memorable closing, The Country Man confirmed that The Country Man Live will now be an annual December event, with plans for an even more immersive experience in 2026.

With its successful debut, the concert has established itself as a rising cultural institution and a defining feature of Nigeria’s live-music calendar.
