As Nigeria’s music industry continues to gain global recognition and commercial strength, a new generation of executives is emerging to bring structure and long term strategy to an industry often driven by speed and viral moments.
One of those executives is Lagos-based label owner Simdi Chukwuma, who is positioning The Blunt Records as a rising powerhouse in Nigeria’s music industry through structured artist management, strategic branding, and disciplined music production.
Since founding the Lagos record label on June 1, 2021, she has built the company around sustainable career development and measurable industry impact rather than short term visibility.
The Blunt Records operates as a Nigerian talent and entertainment company specializing in artist management, brand development, music video production, and strategic planning within the entertainment industry.

Under Simdi’s leadership, the label has achieved significant milestones, most notably through Qing Madi, whose career has produced nine award wins since signing with the company, including major recognitions such as Songwriter of the Year at the 17th Headies Awards (2025) and Most Promising Artiste of the Year at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA 2026).
These achievements have positioned the label as a growing force within Nigeria’s competitive music ecosystem, where structure and business literacy are increasingly determining long term success.
“My mom inspired me to pursue this path,” Simdi said. “Her consistency showed me that anything is possible if you commit fully to the process.”
Beyond management responsibilities, she plays a direct role in visual production and has shot music videos and visualizers for artists including Olive The Boy, Boi Chase, DJ Neptune, and Ayox.
One of her earliest major projects, a production for Olive The Boy, has surpassed 12 million views on YouTube, marking a defining breakthrough in her production career and strengthening the label’s creative credibility.
As 2026 unfolds, Simdi’s leadership has evolved from early stage founder to structured label executive focused on scaling operations and positioning The Blunt Records for broader international competitiveness.
Currently in her third year studying Computer Science and holding a diploma in Psychology, she integrates digital strategy and audience behavior insights into artist growth planning, helping her roster navigate Nigeria’s rapidly expanding streaming and media environment.
“My greatest accomplishment so far was that first major shoot crossing 12 million views,” she noted. “It showed me that impact comes from execution, not just ideas.”
Simdi has acknowledged facing skepticism due to her age and gender in a male dominated entertainment sector, yet she maintains that consistent results ultimately define credibility.
“I have been belittled because I am young and female, but I let the work speak,” she explained. “No luck, just work.”
With Qing Madi’s EP projects underway and The Blunt Symposium event in development in Lagos, the label is entering a new growth phase aimed at strengthening its position within and beyond Nigeria’s music industry.

“Learn the business, not just the vibe. Protect your reputation like gold. Think long term, not viral,” she added, underscoring her long term vision for global recognition.
