Born on August 21, 1992, in Nigeria, John discovered early that numbers could tell powerful, life-changing stories.
He pursued a Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in 2012, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Science in Statistics from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2015 and 2016.
Blending academic rigor with bold entrepreneurial ambition, he set the stage to redefine how everyday Africans access financial services and connect with global opportunities.
After graduate school, John began his professional journey as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), where he used data to optimize agricultural research for greater impact.
He then consulted for organizations such as Catholic Relief Services, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the International Fertilizer Development Center, applying data-driven insights to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.
These formative roles cemented his unwavering belief that smart decisions powered by data could ignite meaningful, lasting change. In 2014, John founded CapitalSage Holdings.
What began as a modest microfinance institution quickly evolved into a purpose-led conglomerate spanning fintech, agribusiness, manufacturing, and healthcare.
Under his visionary leadership, CapitalSage’s fintech arm, CapitalSage Technology, launched inclusive platforms like Kolomoni Microfinance Bank and Ercas, offering seamless savings, payments, instant loans, and investment solutions.
Today, CapitalSage Technology serves over 60,000 agents and merchants, bringing dignity and financial hope to countless individuals in both urban centers and rural communities.
In 2016, John launched Johnvents Group, an ambitious agribusiness and manufacturing enterprise built to elevate West African production to global excellence.
Through transformative investments in cocoa processing, especially at its facilities in Akure and Ile-Oluji, Johnvents became Nigeria’s largest cocoa processor.
The group now exports semi-finished cocoa products, sesame seeds, and soybeans worldwide, creating new opportunities for local farmers and positioning Nigeria as a global force in agriculture.
Through the Johnvents Cocoa Sustainability and Farmers’ Empowerment Programme, he aims to uplift 150,000 farmers by 2030, offering training, access to credit, and value-added processing, fostering dignity, sustainability, and real generational impact.
John’s bold strategies and heart-led leadership have attracted significant global attention.
CapitalSage raised a $4 million Series A round in 2021 to scale across Africa.
In 2024, he secured a ₦35 billion pre-export financing deal with the International Finance Corporation to scale Johnvents’ cocoa capacity.
And in early 2025, British International Investment committed $40.5 million, reinforcing John’s reputation as a fearless trailblazer and a trusted steward of Africa’s future.
