Nigeria Launches Real-Time Digital Dashboards to Track Government Performance

Nigeria has launched a set of digital dashboards designed to monitor in real time the performance of ministries, departments, and public agencies (MDAs).

The announcement was made by the Secretary to the Government, George Akume, during a sectoral retreat in Abuja last week.

The initiative supports President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which emphasizes administrative efficiency and improved public service delivery.

The system uses key performance indicators assigned to each MDA, marking a shift from measuring activity volume to tracking tangible outcomes.

With integrated data feeding into each dashboard, ministries will now be assessed through a centralized, real-time platform meant to enhance transparency, coordination, and accountability.

Built on an e-governance and data integration framework, the dashboard environment consolidates essential information for continuous policy evaluation, according to Ecofin Agency.

“These tools will empower us to make better-informed decisions, track progress … results effectively to the Nigerian people,” Akume said.

The reform aims to address persistent issues such as redundant policies, overlapping mandates, and weak monitoring systems that have hindered government efficiency for decades.

Authorities plan to replace the old model of periodic reporting with a continuous, technology-driven approach to performance management.

Despite the promise of the new system, its impact will depend on the reliability of data supplied by MDAs, their willingness to adopt the platform effectively, and the political commitment required to use the performance insights to adjust public policies.
