Morocco’s national highways company, ADM, has inaugurated the Tit Mellil–Berrechid (A31) highway, a 2.5-billion-dirham ($270 million) project, the company announced this week.
The 30-kilometer road connects the Casablanca bypass (A1) at Tit Mellil with the Casablanca–Marrakech (A3) and Berrechid–Beni Mellal (A4) highways.
According to Ecofin Agency, the project features two interchanges, four viaducts spanning the Zririf, El Fayda, and El Himer wadis, and 24 structures designed to maintain connectivity with local roads.

ADM estimates initial traffic at around 20,000 vehicles per day, projecting that the highway will reduce congestion in Greater Casablanca, shorten travel times for traffic arriving from the north and east, and improve safety at a key junction within the national network.
The A31 also provides an alternative access route to Mohammed V International Airport.
The opening of the A31 is part of a national initiative launched in 2024 to modernize and expand Morocco’s highway system, aiming to upgrade 1,200 km of roads by 2033.
The program received a significant boost in March 2025 through a 12.5-billion-dirham investment agreement between the state and ADM for the 2025–2032 period.
A government sector report released in December 2024 highlighted the rapid expansion of Morocco’s highway network over the past 25 years, growing from 80 km in 1999 to 1,800 km in 2024.
The country’s paved road network now totals 58,000 km, including 2,164 km of expressways.
