Kenya’s Leta Expands to Ghana After $5M Seed Round

Kenyan logistics software startup Leta has expanded operations into Ghana, becoming the company’s seventh African market.

The move follows as Leta raised $5 million in a seed funding round in March 2025.

Founded in 2021 by Nick Joshi, Leta now operates in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mauritius, and Ghana, according to Daba Finance.

Leta develops artificial intelligence-powered software that helps businesses optimize delivery routes, manage fleets more efficiently, and reduce transport costs.

The company’s entry into Accra is supported by Simbisa Brands Limited, a leading quick service restaurant group with over 600 outlets across 11 countries.

Leta’s platform is already in use by major regional clients such as KFC, East African Breweries Limited (EABL), Wells Fargo Courier, and Gilani’s.

Since its pre-seed round in 2022, the company has achieved fivefold revenue growth, facilitated 4.5 million deliveries, and moved more than 150,000 tonnes of goods.

The recent $5 million round was led by Speedinvest and included participation from Google’s Africa Investment Fund and Equator. The funding will be used to further develop Leta’s AI capabilities and improve its product offerings.

Leta’s expansion into Ghana reflects a broader shift in Africa’s logistics sector from hardware-driven systems to software-led solutions. With operational costs still high and delivery challenges persisting, more businesses are turning to data and automation to improve efficiency.

Leta is betting that software doesn’t just grow logistics operations, it makes them smarter. With a presence in seven markets and partnerships with major pan-African brands, Leta is positioning itself as a foundational player in digital logistics infrastructure.

Its asset-light model offers scalability and fits the growing demand from African businesses for reliable, tech-enabled delivery services without heavy upfront investment.

By targeting complex supply chains and using AI to streamline logistics, Leta is part of a new generation of African B2B SaaS companies focused on building the digital backbone of trade and transport across the continent.
