Morayo Afolabi-Brown is a powerhouse in Nigerian television, a storyteller whose passion and resilience have reshaped how millions engage with news, lifestyle, and cultural conversations.
As Managing Director of TVC Entertainment and the magnetic host of Your View, she embodies fearless journalism and strategic leadership, captivating audiences on camera and steering the ship behind the scenes with unwavering determination and grace.
Born in Lagos to Alao Aka-Bashorun, former NBA president, and Kudirat Atinuke Aka-Bashorun, Morayo’s early years were steeped in service and high expectations.
After earning a degree in Political Science from Rutgers University, she returned home in 2004 fueled by a deep conviction to elevate Nigeria’s emerging media landscape.
Through every achievement, she carried the lessons of her upbringing: integrity, curiosity, and the courage to break barriers in male-dominated spheres.
Morayo’s professional journey began in 2005 at CMC Connect, where as Client Service Manager she honed her communication finesse.
She then joined CUE Media, rising to Head of Content and Development and later Senior Executive for Marketing and Research.
It was here that she envisioned and produced groundbreaking shows, Girlfriends (TV drama Series), Changing Lives (Talk Show), and Shop Easy, each combining authentic storytelling with fresh perspectives on women’s lives and consumer empowerment.
Her creative prowess caught the eye of HiTV, Nigeria’s pioneering indigenous cable station, where she first shaped content strategies as Business Development Manager and then as Head of Content & Channels Acquisition.
In those roles, she learned how to build channels that resonated emotionally while driving corporate growth, skills that would prove indispensable in her next chapter.
In 2015, Morayo joined TVC News as Deputy Director of Programmes, taking charge of editorial policy and on-air excellence.
She sharpened her instincts for news that matters, deepening her commitment to giving a voice to the voiceless and using media as a catalyst for positive change.
Colleagues soon recognized her as not just a creator of compelling content, but as a mentor who inspired young producers to find their own courage in storytelling.
A defining moment arrived in June 2023, when Morayo launched her memoir Becoming The Queen of Talk TV and celebrated a decade of trailblazing broadcasting.
That milestone was more than a personal achievement, it reflected her decade-long dedication to elevating public discourse, navigating fierce competition, and carving a space for women to lead national conversations.
Later that same year, she ascended to Managing Director of TVC Entertainment Channel under TVC Communications.
Her appointment marked one of the rare occasions a woman has helmed a major TV station in Nigeria, a testament to her decades of relentless drive and visionary guidance.
Today, she anchors Your View, Nigeria’s leading morning talk show, where her empathetic interviews and incisive analysis awaken and empower thousands each weekday.
Morayo’s influence extends far beyond the studio. In 2020, she was named among Nigeria’s Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Journalism by Women in Journalism Africa, a recognition that celebrates her impact in shaping public opinion.
She continues to mentor aspiring journalists through workshops and one-on-one coaching, helping them find confidence in their voices and navigate an industry that often undervalues fresh perspectives.
Her creative passions also include writing thought-provoking op-eds on governance, social issues, and gender equality for leading publications.
Whether she’s analyzing policy or advocating for women’s empowerment, her words carry the same emotional resonance as her on-screen presence, bold, authentic, and unwaveringly compassionate.
Morayo Afolabi-Brown’s journey from a spirited Rutgers graduate to the helm of TVC Entertainment is a story of unflinching resilience, visionary ambition, and a heartfelt commitment to using media as a force for good.
Through every broadcast, boardroom decision, and page of her memoir, she reminds us that when integrity meets imagination, a single voice can ignite a nation’s conversation and inspire generations to come.
