EU Launches €300,000 Grant to Boost Eurocham Nigeria’s Growth

The European Union has launched a €300,000 grant to support the institutional development of Eurocham Nigeria, aiming to strengthen its secretariat, expand advocacy, and enhance external engagement for its members.

This move is expected to reinforce Eurocham’s role in advocacy and policy dialogue, creating a conducive business environment through strategic engagement with governments, policymakers, and stakeholders.

EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, announced the three-year grant during Eurocham’s 25th Annual Stakeholders Conference in Lagos.

Mignot emphasized that this initiative would help promote trade and investment opportunities, benefiting both the European and Nigerian economies while reinforcing the EU’s position as Nigeria’s strategic partner.

The grant is part of the EU’s effort to support Eurocham in fostering strong economic and commercial ties with Nigeria. Eurocham Nigeria, also known as the European Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, represents European businesses operating in Nigeria.

Mignot highlighted the importance of strong governance and coordination with EU states and bilateral chambers. He also noted that the EU remains Nigeria’s largest trading partner and a major source of foreign direct investment and development financing.

The EU’s Global Gateway Strategy, a four-year initiative focused on improving infrastructure in Nigeria and other African countries, was also discussed.

Key projects funded under this initiative include the Omi Eko water transportation initiative, digital skills programs, and the deployment of 90,000 km of fibre optic cables.
