Dangote Refinery Lowers Fuel Prices Nationwide, Updates Petrol Distribution

Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in its premium motor spirit (petrol) retail price across Nigeria, marking another effort to stabilize fuel costs for consumers nationwide.

In a statement released on Friday, September 12, 2025, the company confirmed that its new gantry price remains at N820 per litre, consistent with the price announced last month.

The refinery also provided an update on its direct petrol distribution initiative, now scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15, 2025. Daily Post

According to the new pricing template released by Dangote Group on its X account, retail prices in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti have decreased from N860 to N841 per litre. In Abuja, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Kwara, the price is now N851, down from N885 per litre.

The adjustments mean that Dangote Refinery will deliver petrol directly to consumers in Lagos and the South-West at a reduced retail price of N19 per litre, while in Abuja, North-Central, and South-South regions, the reduction will be N34 per litre.

The refinery, which has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, emphasized that the new price template and direct fuel distribution scheme will officially take effect on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, DAILY POST reports that the Dangote Refinery price template is not binding on other petroleum marketers and retailers except for MRS and the refinery’s other official distribution partners.

The company is currently involved in discussions with the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), which recently threatened to return to strike, alleging that Dangote Group reneged on prior resolutions. Dangote Group, however, stated that it respects the voluntary membership of unions by its employees.

The direct distribution initiative, initially slated to begin on August 15, 2025, will allow the $20 billion refinery to distribute petrol and diesel using its fleet of 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks at zero logistics cost, underscoring the company’s commitment to ensuring accessibility and affordability of fuel for Nigerians.
