Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, recently provided a detailed account of the profound structural rift with his father, Fatai Odunsi, which was fundamentally rooted in a clash of career ideologies.
During an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the artist articulated that the primary friction originated from his father’s refusal to accept music as a viable or respectable profession.
Asake characterized his father as an exceptionally stubborn individual, a trait the singer admits they share, which led to an untenable domestic environment.
This ideological deadlock reached a critical point when Asake was only 15 years old, prompting him to leave the family home to pursue his musical ambitions without parental endorsement or financial backing.
The narrative of their relationship shifted into the public eye in March 2025 when Fatai Odunsi, who is a stroke survivor, issued public statements alleging that his son had neglected his welfare despite achieving global superstardom.
These allegations suggested a total breakdown in communication and a lack of support for the elder Odunsi’s medical requirements. However, by early 2026, the trajectory of their relationship moved toward formal reconciliation.
Asake reportedly intervened to manage his father’s comprehensive medical expenses and stroke recovery costs. Further reports indicated a significant gesture of restitution through the purchase of a luxury residence for his father, effectively stabilizing the elder Odunsi’s living conditions.
In January 2026, the circulation of a photograph featuring both men signaled a public end to the hostilities. Asake has since maintained that while the years of friction were difficult, the bond remains an absolute constant.
He emphasized that the decision to leave home at a young age was a necessary sacrifice for his autonomy, though he now prioritizes his father’s health and comfort as part of their restored relationship.
