Ethiopia has signed an agreement with Nigeria’s Dangote Group to construct a $2.5 billion fertiliser manufacturing plant, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced on Thursday in a post on X.
The project, part of Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote’s wider push to end Africa’s reliance on fertiliser imports, will be located in Gode town in Ethiopia’s southeast and is expected to produce 3 million metric tons of fertiliser annually, Abiy said.
