This announcement comes after Khan’s visit to Flygerians, a Nigerian restaurant in Peckham, where he met with African business owners contributing to London’s economy.

The trip, first announced in December, forms part of a wider strategy to deepen business, environmental, and cultural links between London and key African cities.

His itinerary will take him to major commercial hubs in Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, regions seen as some of the most dynamic economies on the continent.

During the visit, Khan will hold meetings with political and business leaders and engage with cultural institutions and members of the African diaspora.

He said, “I’m delighted to announce that later this month I will be visiting Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa to bang the drum for further investment in London and strengthen the cultural ties we have with each country.

With growing populations, rapidly advancing technology hubs and an appetite for boosting our trading relationships, this trade mission will be a fantastic opportunity to drive further investment here in London and further deepen our partnerships.”

In Nigeria and Ghana, Khan is expected to explore partnerships in technology, fintech, education, and infrastructure.

In South Africa, where the UK has its strongest trading ties on the continent, his focus will be on green investment and city-level cooperation on urban sustainability and innovation.

The visit is part of London’s push to position itself as a gateway for African investment and talent while building on links shaped by migration, trade, and shared heritage.
