MultiChoice Nigeria has announced another price hike for its DStv and GOtv subscriptions, effective March 1, 2025. The latest increase will see customers paying more for their preferred TV packages, adding to the existing financial burden on viewers.
Here’s the new breakdown:
– DStv Compact: ₦15,700 to ₦19,000
– DStv Compact Plus: ₦30,000
– DStv Premium: ₦44,500
– GOtv Jinja: ₦3,900
– GOtv Plus: ₦5,800
– GOtv Max: ₦8,500
– GOtv Supa: ₦11,400
– GOtv Supa Plus: ₦16,800
According to MultiChoice, this price hike is due to rising operational costs, including inflation, currency depreciation, and increased business expenses. The company claims the extra revenue will help deliver top-notch local and international content using the best technology.
This marks another price hike in less than a year, following a similar increase in May 2024 that resulted in 243,000 lost customers. Many Nigerians are cutting back on pay-TV subscriptions as prices continue to climb.
Some customers are calling for a pay-as-you-watch model, allowing them to pay only for the channels they watch, rather than full package pricing. However, MultiChoice seems committed to its current pricing strategy, despite the potential loss of subscribers.
Will you stick with DStv and GOtv despite the rising costs, or is it time to switch to streaming platforms?
