According to the statement, the fund is designed to provide financial support for soldiers injured in the line of duty, as well as widows, widowers, and children of personnel who lost their lives defending the country.

Tinubu directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to create a dedicated account to manage the fund, ensuring proper disbursement and transparency.

As part of his personal contribution, the President pledged that all his earnings since he assumed office in May 2023 would serve as seed funding for the initiative, regardless of existing military insurance or welfare schemes.

He further called on state governors, members of the National Assembly, private sector stakeholders, and well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the fund.
