Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri has publicly supported the use of electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria but clarified opposition to real-time electronic transmission as unfeasible given current national infrastructure realities.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Omokri framed electronic transmission as a patriotic reform while warning that nationwide real-time reporting may not reflect Nigeria’s technological capacity.
Channels Television He criticised critics of the proposal, including opposition figures, on technical grounds and highlighted infrastructure challenges such as network coverage gaps in parts of the country as evidence the ideal of real-time uploads is unrealistic at present.
On his relationship with the current administration, Omokri indicated his position has evolved. Although he previously resisted working with President Bola Tinubu’s government, he said that as ambassador he will serve Nigeria’s interest and described Tinubu as “the best thing for Nigeria.”
