Oyetola’s aide slams Adeleke over healthcare, education collapse in Osun

Dr Bolaji Akinola, Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has publicly condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in Osun State, accusing it of gross ineptitude and a collapse of essential public services, particularly in healthcare and education.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Akinola described the current state of Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state as “a damning indictment” of Adeleke’s leadership, asserting that facilities are poorly staffed, ill-equipped and effectively abandoned despite statutory allocations and financial resources available since the governor assumed office more than three years ago.

Akinola dismissed blame on the previous administration, arguing that no responsible government should continue to fault its predecessor this far into its tenure.

He said Oyetola left behind what he termed a functional governance framework in areas such as healthcare reforms, workers’ welfare and institutional strengthening, implying that the deterioration of services under Adeleke is a direct result of incompetence rather than inherited problems.

The aide also singled out the state Commissioner for Health, accusing the official of focusing on excuses instead of solutions, and claimed that rural communities have been left without basic medical care.

Governor Adeleke and his administration have not yet responded directly to this latest criticism.

However, past responses from the Osun State Government to opposition allegations have repeatedly rejected claims of service collapse, describing them as misinformation and affirming ongoing operations in health and education sectors.

This confrontation reflects continuing political tension in Osun State, where disputes over governance achievements and public services have repeatedly played out between opposition figures and the governor’s camp.
