Nadia Uwamahoro is a visionary tech leader, turning bold ideas into digital solutions that are reshaping Africa’s future.
As the Founder and CEO of Data Systems, she has transformed a university project into a thriving technology company with operations in Rwanda, Uganda, and Ghana, proving that ambition, skill, and determination can break barriers.
Her love for technology started early, inspired by her engineer father and nurtured through her studies in Computer Engineering and IT at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.
Even as a student, Nadia could see possibilities where others saw challenges. She launched Data Systems to empower young African tech professionals and tackle the lack of opportunities in the sector, a bold step that would lay the foundation for a regional tech powerhouse.
Under Nadia’s guidance, Data Systems has created impactful digital solutions, from custom mobile apps to enterprise web platforms, serving governments and institutions across Africa.
Beyond building software, she founded Gira ICT, an educational platform delivering academic resources to teachers, students, and parents, bringing learning closer to those who need it most.
Nadia’s journey hasn’t been easy. With limited access to capital and skepticism around African tech, she relied on sharp strategy, quick decisions, and a relentless focus on her users to push forward.
Her travels and exposure to different cultures sharpened her thinking, unlocking new perspectives and markets, and showing that African innovation can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world.
What sets Nadia apart is not just her brilliance, it’s her heart. She leads with empathy, values collaboration, and fights for gender equality.
Her mantra, “Women’s dreams are valid,” is reflected in every project she undertakes, inspiring a new generation of young African women to dream bigger and lead boldly.
Her remarkable achievements have earned her a spot on Forbes’ Under 40 CEOs list, a recognition of her influence and vision in shaping Africa’s technology landscape.
Nadia Uwamahoro is not just building software, she’s building Africa’s digital future, one meaningful innovation at a time.
