United by Food: How the African Food Summit & Expo 2025 Is Shaping Africa’s Cultural and Economic Future

As Africa continues to define its voice on the global stage, one of its most powerful tools for unity and progress is something deeply familiar, food.

The upcoming African Food Summit & Expo 2025, organized by the African Food Network and proudly headlined by Kuda Microfinance Bank, is set to explore how culinary heritage, creativity and innovation can drive sustainable growth across the continent.

Taking place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, the Summit marks the official opening of the African Food & Drinks Festival 2025, Africa’s largest food celebration.

It will convene a diverse mix of policymakers, business leaders, chefs and creators to discuss how Africa’s food systems can create new pathways for trade, tourism and entrepreneurship.

According to Kevin Eze, Founder and CEO of the African Food Network, the event represents “more than a conversation about food.”

“It is a meeting of minds focused on how our shared culinary culture can strengthen unity, boost creativity and build sustainable livelihoods for millions of Africans,” said Eze.

This year’s Summit, themed “United by Food: Building a Sustainable Future for African Food,” arrives at a pivotal moment. Africa holds more than 60 percent of the world’s uncultivated arable land, yet still spends over 50 billion dollars annually on food imports.

With global demand for African cuisine rising, the conversation is shifting toward how the continent can transform its food culture into an economic powerhouse.

Among the headline speakers are Mr. Obi Asika, Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Brian Nwana, Food and Travel Creator and Guinness World Record Holder, and Jenifer Ibrahim, Cool FM On Air Personality and Media Influencer.

Session topics will explore critical areas such as “Feeding a Continent: Rethinking Food Security for a New Africa” and “The Power of Perception: How Media and Marketing Can Drive the African Food Revolution.”

For Kuda Microfinance Bank, the Summit reflects a broader vision of creativity led growth.

“We are proud to partner with the African Food Network to spotlight the economic potential of Africa’s food industry,” said a Kuda representative. “Our support reflects our belief in empowering Africans to turn creativity and culture into opportunity.”

The Summit will precede the African Food & Drinks Festival 2025, a three day celebration from November 14 to 16 at Harrow Park, Abuja, featuring over 100 vendors, cultural showcases and the signature Unity Dish Experience, symbolizing Africa’s diversity through food.

Since its inception, the festival has evolved into a continental platform attracting over 25,000 attendees across Nigeria and Ghana. Now in its fifth year, the 2025 edition aims to solidify Africa’s position as not just a cultural hub, but a global player in food innovation and creative trade.
