A childhood fascination with acting has grown into a career spanning performance, production and entrepreneurship for Sonia Uche. From taking an early opportunity at an audition to establishing her own production company, the Nigerian actress has continued to expand her place within Nollywood while developing businesses beyond the screen.
Sonia Uche is a Nigerian Nollywood actress, producer and entrepreneur. She is the first of four daughters of filmmaker and former costumier Uche Nancy, but her entry into acting began through an audition she discovered while studying at university.
Sonia Uche Found Her Way Into Acting
Growing up, Sonia Uche developed an interest in performance through church dance and drama activities and watching films with her father. She has identified Nigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji as one of the performers who inspired her early interest in acting.
While in her first year at university, she discovered an audition call on Facebook and travelled to Abuja after completing her examinations. She secured a role in Complicated, where she worked alongside veteran actors Olu Jacobs and Patience Ozokwor.
Balancing acting with university proved difficult, and she eventually stepped away from the industry to complete her education and national service before returning to acting full time. Her mother later became closely involved in guiding her through the film industry.

Nollywood Actress Combined Education With Her Screen Ambitions
Before establishing herself professionally, Sonia Uche studied Agricultural Economics at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. She later completed her National Youth Service Corps programme in Abuja in 2018.
Her return to acting opened the way for a growing body of screen work. The Nollywood actress has appeared in productions including Vanity, War Front, Storm in Marriage, Heart Impossible and Room for Loyalty.
Her involvement in filmmaking has also moved beyond acting. Sonia has taken on production responsibilities, including serving as a producer on Room for Loyalty, a 2025 drama in which she also played the character Chioma.
Sonia Uche Expands From Nollywood Actress to Producer
As her career developed, Sonia Uche extended her work into film production and entrepreneurship. She founded Premium Pictures Studios, a production company established to develop film content and provide opportunities for filmmakers and storytellers.
Through the company, the Nollywood actress has taken a more direct role in the filmmaking process. Premium Pictures Studios has been associated with productions including Heart Impossible, Once Upon a Vow and Room for Loyalty, with Sonia also credited as a producer on the latter two films.
This progression has allowed her career to extend from interpreting stories on screen to participating in bringing productions together behind the camera.

Film is not the only business area Sonia Uche has pursued. Alongside Premium Pictures Studios, she runs Sonia Luxury Hair Extensions, extending her entrepreneurial interests into the beauty industry.
