How Sangu Delle is developing a blueprint for an empowered Africa through venture capital and healthcare reform.

A name speaks volumes when it carries the weight of vision, action, and change, and Sangu Delle stands as the embodiment of that power, a transformative force in Africa whose work as an entrepreneur, investor, author, and social-change maker merges intellect, compassion, and ambition into a unified vision where opportunity, dignity, and innovation shape the continent’s future.

Born in Ghana to a family that welcomed refugees from war-torn neighboring countries, Sangu’s early life was grounded in empathy, responsibility, and a sense of global belonging.

From those formative roots grew a drive to address Africa’s biggest problems not with fleeting gestures but with lasting structures.

His journey from student to changemaker began when he earned a full scholarship to attend secondary school in New Jersey, and later advanced to Harvard College where he graduated with highest honours in African Studies and Economics.

He didn’t stop there. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master’s in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University, and a PhD in African Studies and Economic Anthropology from the University of Birmingham, equipping himself with a rare combination of legal wisdom, business acumen, academic insight, and humanistic vision.

But his real transition came when he decided to channel that education into enterprise and impact rather than comfort. Early roles in global finance gave him exposure to capital markets, yet he recognized that those systems weren’t built for Africa’s realities.

In response, he founded Golden Palm Investments, a venture-holding company dedicated to backing African startups across sectors like technology, healthcare, agribusiness, and real estate, firms that dared to solve pressing problems.

Over the years, GPI has backed innovative companies such as mPharma, Andela, and Flutterwave, ventures now shaping Africa’s digital economy.

Simultaneously, Sangu founded CarePoint, a tech-enabled healthcare network with a mission to build Africa’s healthcare future.

Under his leadership, CarePoint operates dozens of clinics and hospitals across multiple African countries, using technology to improve access to quality care, an effort aligned with his belief that healthcare is not a luxury but a right.

Beyond business and health, Sangu’s heart has always leaned toward social justice. While at Harvard he co-founded Cleanacwa, a nonprofit dedicated to providing clean water and sanitation for rural communities.

Cleanacwa impacted over 200,000 people across roughly 160 villages in Ghana, a testament to the power of grassroots action and sustained commitment.

In 2022, he expanded his philanthropic ambitions by launching the Sangu Delle Foundation, focusing on grants for education, mental health, and job creation, investing in human potential as much as in companies.

Sangu’s achievements and credentials are world-class. He has served as Trustee of the Peddie School, sits on the Board of Ashesi University, is a member of the advisory council at Harvard Medical School, co-chairs the leadership council at the Harvard Center for African Studies, and takes part in the selection committee for the Rhodes Scholarship for West Africa.

As an author, he wrote Making Futures: Young Entrepreneurs in a Dynamic Africa, a book showcasing African entrepreneurship and shortlisted for the Financial Times McKinsey Bracken Bower Prize.

His awards and fellowships speak to both his excellence and his impact. He is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, a TED Fellowship recipient, an Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellow, an Eisenhower Fellow, and a GLG Social Impact Fellow, among other recognitions highlighting him as one of the continent’s most influential young leaders.

But perhaps his most significant impact lies less in titles and more in legacy.

Hundreds of thousands now access clean water, patients across Africa receive quality healthcare, African tech startups gain funding, mentorship, and structural support, and young people are inspired to dream that Africa can lead, not follow.

Sangu demonstrates that investment in social causes, business, and human capacity can be done with integrity and purpose.

Sangu Delle is more than a successful entrepreneur or celebrated leader. He is a builder of systems, a believer in Africa’s potential, and a bridge between ambition and opportunity.

His story sends a clear message that when vision meets action, and when success is redefined as impact rather than profit, the future can indeed be made by Africans for Africa.
