Ethiopian Airlines has confirmed the purchase of six additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft as part of its fleet expansion strategy, converting previously held purchase options into firm orders.
According to Reuters, the deal follows earlier commitments that include a larger 2026 order and is aimed at strengthening the airline’s long-haul operations across Africa, Asia, and the United States.
The airline said the new aircraft will support growing passenger demand and improve route capacity from its Addis Ababa hub. Reuters reports that this move further reinforces Ethiopian Airlines’ position as Africa’s largest Dreamliner operator.
