Egypt has signed two memoranda of understanding with Syria aimed at cooperation on supplying gas for electricity generation and meeting Syria’s petroleum product requirements, Egypt’s petroleum ministry said on Monday.
According to the ministry, the agreements cover the delivery of gas either through regasification vessels or via gas transportation networks, although no details were provided on volumes, Reuters reported.

Syria currently produces only a small share of the electricity it requires due to extensive damage to its energy infrastructure during its 14-year civil war.
However, the ministry noted that electricity supply in the country has improved significantly in recent months, supported by gas supplies from Azerbaijan and Qatar.
