Alloysius Attah: CEO of Farmerline, Using Technology to Build Wealth for Africa’s Smallholder Farmers

Alloysius Attah is a builder of systems, opportunities, and futures. A Ghanaian entrepreneur with a rare blend of technical insight and deep agricultural understanding, he has spent more than a decade proving that innovation does not have to be distant or abstract to be powerful.

Instead, his work shows that technology can meet people exactly where they are and lift entire communities along the way.

Calm, strategic, and purpose-driven, Alloysius is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Farmerline, an agri-tech social enterprise that is reshaping how smallholder farmers across Africa access information, finance, and markets.

He co-founded Farmerline in 2013 alongside Emmanuel Owusu Addai, driven by a simple but deeply ambitious mission: to create lasting wealth for smallholder farmers through technology and sustainable farming practices.

Under Alloysius’ leadership, Farmerline has evolved into a dependable partner for farmer-focused solutions, skillfully combining digital innovation with on-the-ground logistics to improve productivity, incomes, and long-term resilience.

As CEO, Alloysius oversees Farmerline’s vision, strategy, fundraising, and partnerships, working with more than 3,000 partners across 48 countries.

His leadership style balances long-term impact with commercial discipline, allowing Farmerline to scale responsibly while remaining firmly grounded in the real needs of farmers.

His ambition is clear and unwavering: to make Farmerline the partner of choice for smallholder farmers not only in Ghana, but across the entire African continent.

Alloysius’ journey is anchored in strong academic and professional foundations. He graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2012 with a BSc in Natural Resource Management, equipping him with a grounded understanding of environmental systems and agriculture.

In 2021, he completed the Stanford Seed Transformation Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, further sharpening his leadership and growth strategy capabilities.

He is also an Echoing Green Fellow, a recognition reserved for leaders who are deeply connected to community-driven solutions with the potential for large-scale impact.

His work has earned significant global recognition. Alloysius has been acknowledged by institutions and leaders including Christine Lagarde, the World Economic Forum, Bloomberg New Economy, and CNBC Africa.

His honors include the SEED Award, the Financial Times/IFC World Bank Group Transformational Business Award, and CNBC Africa’s Young Business Leader Award.

He was also a finalist for the Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards, served as a guest lecturer at Cornell University, and spoke at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, where global leaders gathered to discuss feeding the world and safeguarding the health of the planet.

In April 2022, Alloysius led Farmerline to secure $12.9 million in pre-Series A funding, with equity backing from the Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund, Greater Impact Foundation, and FMO, alongside debt participation from DEG, Rabobank, Ceniarth, Rippleworks, Mulago Foundation, Whole Planet Foundation, Netri Foundation, and Kiva.

Today, Alloysius Attah stands as one of Africa’s most impactful Under 40 CEOs, quietly reshaping agriculture through data, trust, and technology.

His work is not driven by hype, but by systems that work, farmers who thrive, and a vision of an Africa that feeds itself while competing confidently on the global stage.
