The African business community is preparing for the fourth edition of Unstoppable Africa, the flagship event of the Global Africa Business Initiative, set to take place on 21–22 September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The initiative, launched by the UN Global Compact, was created “to change how the world views Africa and does business with Africa,” according to United Nations Global Compact chief Sanda Ojiambo, who spoke at a press briefing on Thursday.
“Africa must not only adapt. It has to lead,” Ojiambo said, underlining the ambition driving the platform.
The Global Africa Business Initiative was introduced in 2022 with the purpose of amplifying bold African voices from the private sector, and it has since gained support from the African Union.
The 2025 edition of Unstoppable Africa will focus on critical themes such as the continent’s role in shaping markets and its potential to lead in global trade, according to Africanews.

The event will convene a mix of the private sector, governments, policymakers, and both global and regional stakeholders to deliberate on the future of African business.
Ojiambo emphasized the resilience of the continent’s entrepreneurial spirit, stating, “The private sector continues to remain robust. Even where there is conflict and strife, business will still continue.”
Since its inception, Unstoppable Africa has drawn high-level engagement, including the participation of 10 heads of state and more than 8,000 attendees across its first three editions, according to the UN.
The upcoming gathering in New York is expected to build on this momentum, reinforcing Africa’s growing influence on the global economic stage.
