Telecom companies in Ghana have begun implementing increased data bundles, following a government directive aimed at making internet access more affordable.
Starting Tuesday, 1 July 2025, customers are now receiving between 10% and 15% more data for the same price, as part of a policy designed to ease cost pressures and promote digital inclusion.
The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, which led the push for the changes, said the move was a direct response to public concerns about high data prices and poor value for money.
The Ministry noted that the new data allocations are part of a broader plan to make digital services more accessible and reduce the financial burden on consumers.

MTN customers now get 15% more data across all bundle options. Telecel and AT users are seeing their data volumes rise by 10%. Some of the biggest changes have been made to high-value plans.
AT’s GHC400 bundle has increased from 195GB to 236GB. Telecel’s GHC400 package has jumped from 90GB to 250GB.
MTN has reintroduced its GHC399 plan, which now offers 214GB, up from 92.88GB in its previous GHC350 bundle.
Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, has directed the National Communications Authority to monitor compliance and warned that telcos who fail to implement the increases will face regulatory action.
“This is about fairness and inclusion. Every Ghanaian deserves affordable access to digital services,” George said.
Telcos began notifying customers about the updated bundles through SMS and app messages before the official rollout.
The move has been welcomed by consumer rights groups and digital advocacy organisations, who see it as a positive step towards a more consumer-friendly telecom industry.
