TD Africa’s TecHERdemy Graduates 400 Nigerian Women Ready to Lead Africa’s Tech Future

On April 17, 2025, the energy at Yudala Heights in Lagos pulsed with pride and promise as TD Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading tech distribution powerhouse, celebrated the graduation of 400 young Nigerian women from its transformative TecHERdemy initiative.

After six months of intensive, hands-on training in Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development, these women are stepping into the tech industry not just as job seekers, but as leaders in the making.

Their graduation marks the culmination of a program that has done more than teach, it has empowered and inspired a generation of future tech pioneers.

The ceremony drew industry giants and changemakers, with Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of the Zinox Group, delivering a keynote address that echoed with optimism and purpose.

“These young women are the pioneers of a new, inclusive era of tech leadership on the continent,” he said, applauding their resilience and brilliance.

Mrs. Chioma Ekeh, CEO of TD Africa and the visionary behind TecHERdemy, shared a message that resonated deeply with the graduates.

“Hold tightly to your values. Let integrity guide your work, let innovation fuel your dreams, and let your impact speak louder than your résumé,” she urged, calling on them to lead with character in a fast-evolving digital world.

Among the many heartfelt testimonies, one voice stood out.

Yetunde Kayode, now a certified data scientist, shared her transformation with raw honesty.

“This program changed my life. I’m walking away empowered, skilled, and deeply grateful to Mrs. Ekeh and the TecHERdemy team for believing in us.”

Fifteen of the participants were specially recognized for outstanding performance and leadership throughout the program, a reminder that excellence can take many forms and is often shaped by perseverance, not just talent.

Launched in November 2024, TecHERdemy was designed with a clear mission: to equip young Nigerian women with globally competitive digital skills and give them a real shot at success in tech.

But what unfolded over the past six months went beyond training, it ignited a movement for inclusion, innovation, and long-term impact.

For the 400 graduates, this ceremony was not a conclusion, it was a beginning.

And for the Nigerian tech ecosystem, it marked a defining moment in building a future where women don’t just participate in the digital economy, they lead it.
