Nigerian music star Burna Boy has added another major international achievement to his career after “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, emerged as Billboard’s No. 1 global song of summer 2026 outside the United States.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 official song finished at the top of Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. summer ranking, placing ahead of songs by BTS, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande and other global stars.
Billboard’s seasonal ranking covers performance on its weekly global charts between June 6 and September 12, using streaming and sales activity from more than 200 territories worldwide.
“Dai Dai” also secured the No. 4 position on Billboard’s Global 200 summer chart, further underlining the record’s reach across international markets.
The song enjoyed a particularly strong run during the summer, spending 10 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart between July 4 and September 5. It also became the first official World Cup anthem to lead the ranking.

Its performance was supported by major appearances during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Burna Boy and Shakira performed the record at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City before the song returned to the global spotlight during the World Cup final festivities in July.
Burna Boy was among the artists featured during the first World Cup final halftime show, which also included performances from Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS and Madonna.
The record’s success places Burna Boy firmly within one of the biggest global music moments of the year and extends his presence beyond Afrobeats into major international pop and sporting platforms.
Elsewhere on Billboard’s summer rankings, Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” finished as the No. 1 song on the Global 200, while “Dai Dai” led the Global Excl. U.S. list.
The Global 200 also featured Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 2, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” at No. 3 and Tame Impala and JENNIE’s “Dracula” at No. 5.
For Burna Boy, the performance of “Dai Dai” adds another significant chapter to a career that has consistently placed African music within major international conversations.
Its position at the top of Billboard’s global summer ranking also reflects the continued reach of African artists across international markets, with Burna Boy once again standing prominently within that movement.
