Electricity has been restored across several parts of Kenya following a power outage that disrupted supply in multiple regions, according to the country’s national electricity distributor.
According to Reuters, Kenya Power announced that electricity supply had been successfully restored in several affected areas after the outage, which occurred on Wednesday evening and impacted parts of the country, including the capital, Nairobi.
The restoration marks the latest effort by the utility to stabilise power supply after another widespread disruption to Kenya’s national electricity network.
Kenya Power and Lighting Company (Kenya Power) confirmed that electricity had been restored across the Mt. Kenya region, North Rift, Western Kenya, South Nyanza and parts of Nairobi following repair works.

According to Reuters, Kenya Power initially reported that the outage had affected Nairobi, the coastal region, the Mt. Kenya area and parts of the Central Rift Valley.
The utility later announced that electricity had been restored in several of the affected regions while work continued to restore supply to the remaining parts of Nairobi and the coastal region.
Reuters reported that Kenya experienced its previous major nationwide power outages in September and December 2024.
Kenya Power currently supplies electricity to more than 9.6 million customers across the country, making it one of East Africa’s largest electricity distribution companies.
