President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the diplomatic postings of 65 ambassadors-designate to Nigerian missions across the world and to the United Nations, marking a major step in restoring Nigeria’s full diplomatic representation abroad.
Channels Television The list consists of 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors, whose nominations had earlier been confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December 2025.
The postings were announced by the presidency in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, indicating that the ambassadors will represent Nigeria in various countries and multilateral institutions.

Several prominent political figures and former public officials appear on the list. Among them are Femi Fani‑Kayode, posted to Germany; Reno Omokri, assigned to Mexico; former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, posted to China; former Lagos deputy governor Femi Pedro, assigned to Australia; and former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, posted to Qatar.
Other appointments include Ita Enang to South Africa, Okezie Ikpeazu to Spain, Isaac Adewole to Canada, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Following the approval, President Tinubu directed the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their formal deployment to their respective missions.
