MTN Nigeria announces exit of board member Mazen Mroue

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced the resignation of Mr. Mazen Mroue from its Board of Directors, marking a leadership adjustment within the company’s governance structure.

The telecommunications operator disclosed that Mroue stepped down from his position as a Non-Executive Director effective February 27, 2026, according to a notice released to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public.

The company explained that the decision was taken to allow Mroue concentrate on other responsibilities within MTN Group Limited. While exiting the Nigerian subsidiary’s board, he continues to hold senior responsibilities within the broader MTN Group structure.

MTN Nigeria’s board acknowledged his contributions during his tenure and expressed appreciation for his service to the company.

The board also extended its goodwill to him as he transitions to focus on his wider roles within the group.

MarketScreenerMroue is a long-standing executive within the MTN ecosystem and a telecommunications industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East.

Within MTN Group, he has held senior leadership responsibilities including serving as Group Chief Technology and Information Officer and leading the company’s digital infrastructure strategy, which covers fibre networks, mobility infrastructure, and data centre expansion initiatives aimed at strengthening MTN’s digital services capabilities across its operating markets.

His departure from the board of MTN Nigeria does not signal a complete exit from the MTN Group but reflects a governance adjustment that allows him to prioritize broader strategic responsibilities within the multinational telecom group.

The announcement forms part of ongoing leadership realignments within MTN’s operations as the company continues to refine its corporate structure and technology-driven growth strategy across Africa.
