Wema, Fidelity, and two other giants join the N1 trillion club on NGX

The Nigerian stock market’s on a serious roll lately, and the latest buzz is four more companies crossing into that elite N1 trillion market cap club on the NGX.

This hit as of the close on February 17, 2026, pushing the total number of SWOOTs Stocks Worth Over One Trillion to 26 now.

Wema Bank led the pack at N1.09 trillion. Fidelity Bank followed right behind at N1.04 trillion. Then Ecobank Transnational at N1.02 trillion, and Dangote Sugar Refinery rounding it out at N1.01 trillion.

All four jumped over the line thanks to this broad rally in large-cap stocks investors piling in, share prices climbing, participation heating up across the board.

To be honest, it’s pretty telling about the mood out there. The banking sector especially has been getting love Wema and Fidelity are tier-2 players showing real momentum, Ecobank’s holding strong, and even a non-bank like Dangote Sugar sneaking in.

Reminds me how these rallies can spread fast when sentiment flips positive, maybe tied to better earnings outlooks, recapitalization plays paying off, or just the overall market vibe with the naira steadying and foreign interest ticking up.Of course, not everything’s rosy some big names dipped the next day, like in the FUGAZ group, but the fact that we’re adding to the trillion-naira list this quick says something about confidence building.

The NGX total market cap has been swinging big too, hitting records left and right lately. It’s one of those moments where you feel the shift more companies joining the big leagues means deeper liquidity, maybe more institutional plays, and yeah, a bit more bragging rights for Nigerian equities.

Whether it holds or pulls back, this streak’s got people talking. Interesting to watch how it unfolds from here, especially with the broader economy in the mix.
